Our Club are pleased to give fellow LCL runner Brian this opportunity, but of course we have no views on the effectiveness of the products.

The Week Ahead 9 Feb 2015

On Tuesday we hie to Beech Grove near the Bulwark Athletic Club for a Paarlauf. You need a partner of about the same speed as you, and you take it in turns running a loop of about 400m for a total of 30 minutes split into two sessions.

When we do this on the track each runner has to jog across the track in time to meet their partner at the end of their half-lap. This jog recovery keeps your muscles warmed and adds an extra training benefit to the session. Because there's no track to jog across in a winter paarlauf, we have a short jog circuit at the end of each lap to give those same benefits.

On Thursday you can choose a one-lap 5k or a two-lap 10k course at the Rogue Runs Night Race at the National Diving Centre just along the A48 from Tutshill. The Club are paying the entry fee which includes post-race cake and hot drink. It helps the organisers if you can enter in advance on Tuesday in the Bar.

And finally, the next LCL cross-country is organised by Fairwater Runners at Llantarnam School, Cwmbran at 11 Sunday morning. The usual post-race hot drinks and goodies afterwards.

Have a good week's training and racing!

Chepstow Harriers News Blog: The Week Ahead 2 Feb 2015

That old Winter favourite the Thornwell Loop lies in wait on Tuesday. After your jog down with your pace group, go straight into your first loop. 3 for E/F; 4 for C/D; 5 for A/B. Don't forget to appoint your timekeeper who should start the 90 seconds recovery when half of you have arrived in the refuge.

On Thursday, go for the longest Boughspring run unless you've got a niggle or some other valid reason for one of the shorter routes.

There seems to be  lot of interest in Sunday's Gwent League at Blaise Castle. It's just over the Severn Bridge with lots of family interest: cafĂ©, adventure playground, country house museum, folly, scenic woodland paths etc.

Women's race at 12.35; men's at 2.10.

Look out for meeting times.

And finally,  on Tuesday or Thursday evening you can put your name down for the Away Run Night Race on Thursday 12 Feb at the Diving Centre.
