Another trip over to Tutshill on Thursday for the Severn Avenue Loops. Meet at the top of Castle View along Sedbury Lane. 10 loops for ABC groups and 7 for DEF.

And good luck to all doing the Club Champs on Sunday, the Guy Fawkes 5.

Report - Bridgend GL XC - Sun 21st Oct

Beautiful weather for the first Gwent League cross country in Bridgend today.
Thanks for the photos Sue - good to have a record of today - especially of the boys with their medals - they were soo pleased :D And thanks for the support too.

Thanks for putting the tent up Dick, Jane Helen and team.

All our juniors ran well and seemed to enjoy the event.
First off were the Novice boys – Joe Lidgett, Fred Conridge, Jake Summers, Bobby Jones and Ben Hope-Bell – the boys ran well and won team bronze in the East Wales completion.

Ceri was our only novice girl but she finished 16th – highest junior position of the day – well done Cez.

Under 13 boys were Joe Somersall and Ewan Dick- Ewan who was a bit phased by it all - went off like a rocket but dropped out -said he'll be back though. Joe finished strongly.

Alex Green was our U13 girl – only just in this age group and did well with the longer distance – good running Alex.

Polly ran the 4.4k in the U15 girls consistently well.

Was a beautiful day - hot

Our Women's team was fantastic :D

Our top three were in the top 20 - Kath Matthews 5th, Jane Green 10th and Sam Harris 17th :D :D Helen, Vanessa and Berta all ran well too - thanks fabulous team 8)

Our men's team was looking good - Rich Matthews back with a vengeance from the start - Steve Harris running well even with one shoe  Well done Steve that can't have been easy 8)

Sadly Mark had to pull out with a quad injury from the fell relays :(

But thanks to the junior teams we luckily had fathers of Joe (s) Dave and Paul - both running strongly with Paul closing in on Dave towards the end to finish just behind.

And Matthew also running well was last scorer so a pretty good men's team today too.

Thanks for running Gerry sorry you didn't score today but it was good to have a strong reserve. Geoff had a good run too - so well done to all our men. Syd was running in our race - not sure of your position Syd - second :?:

Particular respect to Matthews Harris and Lawson families for juggling their running with looking after their little ones - lovely to see them there :D

The next Gwent League cross country is Sat November 10th in Brecon - we have the mini bus for this one.

The Week Ahead 15 October 2012

Plenty going on this week, dear reader. Tuesday's session is the Beachley Loop - 6 circuits of flat, traffic-freeish Inner Loop. Don't be put off by the 'Road Up/Road Closed' signs when you turn into Loop Road: that only applies to the far end of the road where we won't be running.
Don't be afraid to drive/share lifts down: it's a fair trot and you can warm up when you get there.

Thursday's run is the good ol' Itton 8, or have a go at the Mathern 5 if you want a shorter run.

A chance to try something new on Friday night - our first ever skittles evening at the Royal Oak at Whitecroft, just up the road from Lydney. Lots of nice nosh and expert tuition in the ancient art of skittles, all for a tenner (plus your beer money of course). Arrive at 7 for a 7.30 skittle-off.

And finally on Sunday here's your chance to takeup the ancient art of cross-country running. The Gwent League course at Bridgend is very beginner-friendly, and is free to enter to all Harriers.
There's a full programme of age group races from 10 year-old to 70+, and each race also incorporates the East Wales Championships.

Please tell our Club Captains Mark and Lou if you intend to run. They have to declare the teams 15 minutes before race start. And watch this space later in the week for carshare arrangements.

The Week Ahead 8 October 2012

Roll up for that old favourite Thornwell Loop on Tuesday. Motor down to Tesco Express if you don't fancy running the two miles there and back.

Then it's the Hayesgate 7 on Thursday. You can shorten it by turning straight up Pwllmeyric Hill after coming down from Mounton, missing the bit out to Hayesgate and back. It then becomes the non-Hayesgate 5.
