This Tuesday’s LCL at Parc Penallta is also June’s Club Champs race. We’re meeting at the LC at 6 to share cars, but if you’re making your own way the postcode for the car park at Tredomen Business Ctre is CF82 7FN. It’s just off the A472 between Ystrad Mynach and Nelson.
We’re a bit nearer home on Thursday with Andy Meek-Welsh’s Wentwood Wander. About 5.5 miles of forest track followed by a drink and chip butties at the pub in Llanvair Discoed. Be at the LC before 7 to share cars, or make your own way to Cadira Beeches car park (another mile past the reservoir car park).
Are you doing the Cotswold Way Relay on Saturday? Here’s your chance to earn the Club’s undying gratitude. One of our Leg 10 (Cold Ashton to Bath 5.20pm start) runners has a suspected broken toe and it looks like we need a replacement. Please contact Lou if you think you can step in.

The weather forecast promises a nice warm session in Piercefield Park on Tuesday. Coach Ivan Teed is offering loops of varying distances according to Speed Groups. It should take about four minutes to run your chosen loop, giving you one minute’s recovery before Ivan blows the 5-minute whistle to start everyone off again. Aim to do 6 loops, or 7 if you’re feeling good! The second Club Handicap in Chepstow Park Wood on Thursday. Vanessa will be posting times soon – watch this space. It’s not too late to join our Summer Training Camp this weekend. Family camping near the sea, with fun, games, some running if you fancy it and training tips from our coaching team. Sounds good eh? Contact Vanessa if you want to join in.

It’s the second Rose Inn race on Tuesday. If you’re not down to help then come along and run: four flat miles is an excellent speed/endurance work-out. Get some hilly off-road miles and enjoy the wild flowers in Thursday’s Wye Valley run. Excellent Clotswold Way relay training or indeed any multi-terrain event. See if you can do the whole distance via Portcasseg Farm and Gaer Hill: the view down the Channel is spectacular from this view point.

Thursday’s away run at Tintern is about 5 miles and is picturesque and educational to boot. We’ll probably pop in to the Fountain at Trellech Grange after.
Meet at the Leisure Centre at the usual time for car sharing or go straight to the Abbey car park ready to start running at 7.30.

Discerning readers may be aware that there’s some sort of royal bash on Tuesday. In keeping with this spirit of monarchical endurance, our Coach of the Month Ivan Teed has festooned the track with patriotic bunting, and will be presenting 800 metre reps for the delight of members.
Go straight to the field for a 7 o’clock start. Our Leisure Centre will be ceremonially closed in honour of the regal celebrations.
Another dynastic treat on Thursday when Niki Morgan and Andy Creber will be taking us to Tintern for a ’Heart of Industry’ run that will take us on a tour of the Angiddy Valley’s industrial past. When/where info will be posted here on Wednesday.
Finally, have you put in your entry for Saturday’s extra Club Champs event, Man v Horse? Today (Fri 1 June) is your last chance.
