It’s the first Leisure Centre League road race next Tuesday at 7:30pm, and we’re hosting it. Lou and Mark will be recruiting all the runners, so if you’re fit and able please get to the start at the top of Mounton Hill (Hospital Hill) in your Club top and LCL number. If it’s your first ever LCL race you won’t have a number, so get one from Syd. He needs your name and date of birth.
The start/finish have moved about 200m down the lane – slightly further away from the main road - than previously, to allow more space around the start and finish zones and help minimize any traffic issues. So you’ll need to add a minute or two extra to jog to the start.
Judith is busy organising the actual race. She has just enough marshals to get by, but extra help would be very welcome! If you can’t get there in time for the start of the race, please do come and support/take photos at the finish line or help to man the post-race drink station. As anyone who’s run an LCL race knows, a bit of extra support around the course really can make the race much more exciting and enjoyable, so please do get out on the route on Tuesday evening even if you can’t commit to running or marshalling. Let’s make it a great start to the LCL road season - come one, come all!
And to continue our reputation as good hosts, please get baking and bring some tasty cakes for the party afterwards. It’s the presentation evening for the cross-country season, in the Leisure Centre Bar.
If you’re available to help Judith and you haven’t told her yet, please put a Comment below or send a message via the Bulletin Board. See you there!
