The Week Ahead 19 June 2017

Up on our track Tuesday for a fartlek or speedplay session. A long-established Scandinavian concept, the changes of pace give a marvellous training effect in an enjoyable way.
The choice on Thursday:
A long run on the Gloucestershire Way;
A steady out-and-back 45 minute run;
3 or 4 sets of 400m/200m/200m on the track.
Whichever you choose, please meet on the track at 6.50: our MCs may be good but even they have difficulty in being in more than one place at a time.
And finally - the Cotswold Way Relay on Saturday. We have 5 teams of 10, but we're still looking for at least one reserve for Team 5. The chances of a reserve getting a run are very high - just one injury, illness or domestic problem among the current 50 and we're in trouble.

Quizzers Needed Saturday Night

We've been asked to put a team in for the annual Charity Quiz in the Leisure Centre bar on Saturday at 7.30.

So far we're struggling to raise a team: it's Syd, Rebekah and me to date. We're not looking for geniuses (genii?), just anyone who likes a challenge.

Put your name in the Comments box below if you fancy it, please!

The Week Ahead 5 June 2017

On Tuesday we travel to Parc Penallta for the next GLCL road race. See the Club Captains' email/postings for meet time. Race as usual starts at 7.30.

Thursday's choice is:

The  run across Piercefield Park, up to Porthcasseg and the round trip back;

Paarlauf on the LC track;

The steady 45 minute out and back.

Chepstow Harriers are also invited to the inaugural run on the new Pembroke School running circuit. Billed as a Race for Life, on a 1 mile circuit, we're supporting the run and the school's enterprise in creating this circuit for the benefit of the community. Our Juniors and Seniors are planning to take advantage of the facilities in times to come.

The event starts at 1.30 this Friday. Pembroke School is in Fairfield Road, Bulwark, on the right just before the shops, postcode NP16 5JN.

And finally, our current C25K graduates will be tackling the Lydney parkrun on Saturday. Come along and give them a cheer.
